Last week had some real highs and some very real lows. You do find your strength better in the lows. The highs are the ‘sit back and enjoy the moment’ moments. I have been through some real issues in my life and always come out a much stronger and more determined person. In all honesty the last few months have been the hardest to cope with. The Menieres has been unbearable at times and has been exacerbated by the stress imposed on me by selfish, ignorant people. The fact I have an illness but it hasn’t stopped me from following my dreams speaks volumes to everyone who is willing to get off their backsides and have a go for themselves and I only tell my story in the hope that it will inspire just ONE person to have a go. Ignorance prevents some people from listening to the facts and understanding a person’s situation and no one will ever be able to change that. It’s a curse the ignorant will have to live with. First of all I want to thank all the people who have been really supportive over the last few weeks. Twitter has its pitfalls but it is also a place I have met some wonderful people that I probably wouldn’t have come across in the ‘real’ world. Thank you. Today is the first day back at school for the boys and if I’m honest it’s a bit of a miserable day for all of us. It’s such a huge compliment when the boys would rather be at home than anywhere else. Well I turned up to a rugby match yesterday in summer clothes!! That was very optimistic but then again, that sums me up perfectly. I always try to see the good in everything and everyone, including hope of a happy outcome even out of terrible events. If my team loses I never turn against them. We grow so much more from loss, adversity and negative experiences than when we coast through life. I know I have instilled this philsophy into the boys which will stand them in good stead for their journey in life. Sport is a wonderful medium in which to instill good, positive behaviour into children. This was demonstrated so clearly by football teams up and down the country and across the world this weekend. It makes me so proud to see the whole of the football world coming together to commemorate the loss of 96 fans that just went to a football match.
