Fancy Sponsoring a rising star in Rugby League

This letter was written by my son, Wesley. He is looking for sponsorship for his scholarship team at Sheffield Eagles Rugby League Football Club. It would be great if his hard work and committment was rewarded with sponsorship.  



Dear All,


I am fifteen years old. I am in my final year of my GCSE’s at Boston Spa School and have been accepted as a Scholarship player at Sheffield Eagles Rugby League Club. I first played rugby at six years old and since then have wanted to play professionally. I work incredibly hard and I am determined to give my all to succeed.


Unlike Super League clubs, Sheffield Eagles and all Championship clubs do not receive any money from the Rugby Football League for youth development.  In spite of this, the club works really hard to develop home grown talent and I am privileged to have been given this opportunity. 


I am looking for a sponsor to help continue their work and to ensure more people like me get the chance to follow their dreams.  I wondered whether you would be interested in sponsoring me. Any donation, whatever size would be greatly appreciated.

Gold Package – Cost £1,000

Acknowledgement on the club website, in the programme and on the iphone app.

Silver Package – Cost £300

Bronze Package – Cost £100

Please note that a scholarship player is allowed as many sponsors as possible in multiples of £100.



The sponsorship provides significant help to the club for playing and training kits, training facilities, pitch fees, physiotherapists and medical staff.

Only last week I learned the extent some people will go to, to twist your words around. In desperation to start the New Year eradicating all the bad, I enlisted the help of a techy friend and it is handy having an honours degree in computing along with a curious mind. In the space of ten minutes we found multiple accounts set up by one person. It wasn’t hard even without the technology the authorities have. Those accounts have now been blocked but more will turn up, we know they will. There is nothing more I can do because I now have evidence to show that whatever I write my words are twisted. Who said, "Size doesn't matter!!"

I was disappointed to learn my book couldn't be judged in the Theakston's Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the Year awards because of it's size. Yes, whoever said size doesn't matter was wrong, clearly it does. In truth, the disappointment only lasted a couple of minutes. Come on, I was absolutely flattered and honoured to have even been nominated for such a prestigious award for my DEBUT novel. The thought that professionals in the literary world considered my work worthy of a nomination fills me with overwhelming pride and gives me goose bumps every time I think of it. The Theakston's Old Peculiar Crime Festival is being held at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate and features incredible writers such as Ann Cleeves, Robert Galbraith aka J K Rowling, Lynda LaPlante, John Harvey and Val McDermid to name but a few. Menieres Madness

I live with pain every day. Some days it’s a dull ache other days it feels like my ears are going to explode. The buzzing drives me to distraction especially when trying to listen to people in crowded places. BUT the worst part of this unpredictable illness is the frustration of not being able to do the things you want or need to do. Monday started off with me writing over 10,000 words in one day. I was so pleased with myself. I had a plan for the week after spending the weekend nursing Lucas through yet another stomach bug caught at school. The amount of letters I get home from school telling me I’ not allowed to send my child to school until at least 48 hours after any sickness yet someone must be sending their child in because my cops for it every time!
