New Year but not a new ME…

Only last week I learned the extent some people will go to, to twist your words around. In desperation to start the New Year eradicating all the bad, I enlisted the help of a techy friend and it is handy having an honours degree in computing along with a curious mind. In the space of ten minutes we found multiple accounts set up by one person. It wasn’t hard even without the technology the authorities have. Those accounts have now been blocked but more will turn up, we know they will. There is nothing more I can do because I now have evidence to show that whatever I write my words are twisted. What I don’t understand is why they read my stuff. It would be like me reading all the articles by Nigel Farage! It would NEVER happen EVER, trust me. Stronger, wiser, happier…

2016 has been strange, appalling, a political nightmare yet exciting, enthralling and a foundation year for my gorgeous family. I've had a decade or so of coming to terms with Meniere's, handling the day to day symptoms while being undermined by people who I thought loved me as I loved them. All this on top of trying to keep going and forge a new career. I've very much felt like I have been swimming against the tide and getting caught in the rips. It's been a continual fight of who people want me to be and who I am.  In 2016, I won the battle. Whilst we lost people dear to us, Wes and I agree, 2016 has not been a bad year for us.  Lessons of 2016      1. You can't put a band aid on an open wound and expect it to heal. Who said, "Size doesn't matter!!"

I was disappointed to learn my book couldn't be judged in the Theakston's Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the Year awards because of it's size. Yes, whoever said size doesn't matter was wrong, clearly it does. In truth, the disappointment only lasted a couple of minutes. Come on, I was absolutely flattered and honoured to have even been nominated for such a prestigious award for my DEBUT novel. The thought that professionals in the literary world considered my work worthy of a nomination fills me with overwhelming pride and gives me goose bumps every time I think of it. The Theakston's Old Peculiar Crime Festival is being held at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate and features incredible writers such as Ann Cleeves, Robert Galbraith aka J K Rowling, Lynda LaPlante, John Harvey and Val McDermid to name but a few.
